The Connection Between Anxiety And Your Diet

Food/Diet

People love their caffeine.  But watch someone who has had too much caffeine and you will see someone whose heart rate is elevated, breathing rapidly, and their hands are possibly shaking.   Someone with too much caffeine in their system will also find their mind rapidly shifting gears.  Probably the most problematic symptom for many is the lack of ability to sleep.

All of these symptoms resulting from caffeine intake are the exact opposite of what someone with anxiety needs.  But it is not just caffeine that is a problem.  Sugars, and high carb or high energy foods will have a similar though less obvious impact on your body.

Your body needs food for energy.   However, excess energy found in sugars and/or caffeine only provide fuel for your anxious self.   If you are wanting to reduce those anxious feelings, then you need to learn to remove caffeine from your diet, and limit the carbs and sugars that you consume.
