Prayer at its core is ‘talking with God’. A conversation with God is essential to having a relationship with Him.
I had never heard this before till recently – but “PRAY” can actually be seen as an acronym.
P = Praise
R = Repent
A = Ask
Y = Yield
This little acronym is a great tool in knowing how to pray. We can start off by ‘Praising’ God. Then from there we can enter into a time where we ‘Repent’ of our sins. Having repented, we can be sure of our forgiveness (1 John 1:9) and can freely enter into a time where we ‘Ask’ God for the things we find ourselves in need of. Finally, and this is the most challenging, we need to leave everything in His hands and ‘Yield’ to whatever He may decide to give us.
My hope would be that this tool will prove of great value in your prayer life.
